Robert W. Steinmetz
Rob Steinmetz is a partner at McConnell Fleischner Houghtaling, LLC. He joined the firm as an associate in 2004 and became a partner in January 2012. As a partner, his practice focuses primarily on the defense of professional negligence claims, related complex litigation, professional licensing and appeals. As an associate, he provided litigation support in all areas of the firm’s practice, with a focus on legal and medical malpractice, professional licensing matters, physician peer review and appellate litigation.
Mr. Steinmetz has defended claims against lawyers practicing in a wide variety of specialties, including patent law, contract drafting, commercial litigation, products liability, real estate, oil and gas, family law, probate and personal injury. His steep learning curve provides him with the unique ability to distill critical facts and law from an underlying matter in order to creatively and efficiently analyze, value and resolve claims.
Mr. Steinmetz received his Juris Doctor from the University of Wisconsin Law School, graduating cum laude. While studying law, he worked on the Wisconsin Innocence Project, where he played a pivotal role in the exoneration of a Wisconsin state prisoner after 18 years of wrongful incarceration.
Mr. Steinmetz is admitted to practice in Colorado, Wisconsin and before the Second and Tenth Circuits. He is a member of the Colorado, Denver, and Wisconsin Bar Associations and is a member of the Colorado Bar Association Ethics Committee. He has lectured his peers about identifying and resolving ethical dilemmas governed by the Colorado Rules of Professional Conduct with an eye towards preventing legal malpractice claims. Mr. Steinmetz was selected as a “Rising Star” by Colorado Super Lawyers in 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2014. He holds the highest rating awarded by Martindale-Hubbell® Law Directory as an AV®Preeminent™ Lawyer.
